What is volumetric weight and why your parcel may cost more than you think

The volumetric weight formula: Length × Width × Height (in centimetres) / 5000. The result is compared against the actual weight, and you are billed for whichever is greater. This is why a large but lightweight parcel can cost more than a small heavy one.

Example: a box 60 × 40 × 30 cm weighing 3 kg. Volumetric weight = 60 × 40 × 30 / 5000 = 14.4 kg. You pay for 14.4 kg, not 3 kg. That's why entering accurate dimensions in the calculator matters.

To reduce costs, minimise the size of the packaging. Use a box that fits snugly around the contents and fill any gaps. Our staff can help you pack efficiently and save on shipping.
